CHENEY HANG OUT
Description
The original Cheney Hangout was created through a partnership with the Historic Downtown Cheney Partnership. HDCP is the fiscal agent of the Cheney Hangout. The Cheney Hangout can solicit tax deductable donations under the umbrella of the Historic Downtown Cheney Partnership.
The Cheney Hangout is a space designated for the entertainment, socialization and personal use of youth aged nine to 13 years of age in the Cheney community. The Cheney community and Eastern Washington University recognized a need for extracurricular activities for “tweens” children between the ages of nine and 13 years old. The original hangout was located in Brewster Hall which is Downtown and close to the Cheney Police Station. The “tween” center is a free place for the kids to go, with fun and exciting activities, which have been funded by the Children Studies Program at Eastern Washington University. The Cheney Hangout reduces juvenile crime, in that it gives tweens something constructive and positive to do when they get out of school.
